DETAILS
This workshop is an opportunity to capture your ideas to design the framework of Ripley community initiatives such as a “Men’s Shed”, community gardens, and to explore other initiatives like foodscaping (where neighbours consult and plan what they will each will grow so they can share and trade food). BYO ideas, let’s see what we can create!
This workshop is for everyone, especially if you:
- Have a passion for gardening, the environment, making, building, up-cycling etc
- Love fresh produce, nutrition or cooking with fresh produce
- Would like to get more involved in community-wide sustainability eg. recycling, up-cycling, tree planting, bees, push bike repairs, computer fixing etc
- Have an interest in making or repairing things, and would like to share your skills with others
- Would like to create opportunities for your children to experience growing their own food in a supported environment
- Are interested in building community, social connection, events and education programs
- Have knowledge to share or just want to learn something new.
Whatever your interest is, this is a valuable workshop, and we would love to have you join us. It is also a great opportunity to make great friends who share common interests whilst making a huge difference in your community.
About the Facilitator: Michael from Savour Soil Permaculture has worked with a number of organisations helping to draw out the vision for their community and gardens, from small community centres to Northey Street City Farm and the University of Queensland.
Young people are especially welcome to join us and contribute their ideas. Parental supervision is required at all times.
